About the Club
Holmes Chapel Rugby Club was founded in 1985 by a group of local rugby addicts who were confidently advised that it would never last! In 2007, with 3 senior sides and over 100 members, HCRUFC is one of the largest sports clubs in the Holmes Chapel and Middlewich area and continues to expand and develop. The club boasts a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere and a vibrant social scene, attracting players and supporters from all walks of life.
The 1st XV compete in the official RFU league structure, South.Lancs-Cheshire Div 3, against teams such as, Ellesmere Port ,Marple, Moore, Newton Le Willows, after securing promotion in 2006, last season produced another strong showing with an almost clean sweep of home fixtures, but we need some extra ‘nouse’ to complete the job when playing away from home.
The highlight for the 2007-2008 season was the numbers of newly recruited local lads turning out for the 2nd XV’s, and their consolidation of the Halbro-Miller Holmes Div 4South status.
HCRUFC in the community
As well as providing sporting and social opportunities to local people, Holmes Chapel Rugby Club are getting more involved and raising our profile in the community. We hold regular fund-raising events with proceeds donated to local causes or charities affecting local people. One charity in particular that is close to the hearts of all club members is DEBRA (the charity working on behalf of people with the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa or EB) in support of the son of one of our members. We are also working hard to establish and develop a strong, mutually beneficial partnership with Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School so the Club’s profile in the area will continue to grow.
